Scottish Artist Angus McEwan
The Blair School of Art is proud to host award-winning guest instructor Angus McEwan, who will be teaching you his approach to realistic watercolor scenes in this rare hands-on 4-day workshop. Angus travels from Scotland to South Carolina to share his secrets for amazing watercolor paintings as seen in the photos of his work below.
This workshop focuses on realistic watercolor painting methods with the traditional brush, as well as important conceptual considerations. Angus will also share his technique which combines acrylic with watercolor for unique effects. The class will examine actual worn and old objects such as tools, flaked paint, bits of machinery, nails, tins, metal signs etc and learn how to recreate them in a painting.
Students can expect to paint every day, watch demonstrations, and receive regular critiques. Questions and discussions about painting and art history are encouraged, and art materials will be covered too.
